    • Hi Nivaz Many Many Thanks for checking out my space and your comments !

Since I don’t have “editorial” constraints I tend to layer my cartoons with images or memories deeply embedded in the subconscious or with strange sights which incite my curiosity. I tend not to just stop with what is just sufficient to get the message across but pack in experiences which may not be germane to the central theme. The bottomline is viewers tend to linger over the cartoon rather than just give it a fleeting glance.

Believe it or not, apart from the punchline (which in turn is inspired by a real life incident dating back to Srilanka winning the World Cup) everything is drawn (pun intended) from real life……..even as recent as this morning – and this refers to the teacher you were referring to:) !

      • Never thought these many things runs inside a cartoonist’s head 🙂 “The bottomline is viewers tend to linger over the cartoon rather than just give it a fleeting glance.” Got the point.
        Thanks 🙂

Yes – the best idea come just when you want to go to sleep 🙂 Its a hard job in some ways.

Lets just say I started out trying to do a Priyanka Chopra and ended up with a Sadhana (top Hindi movie heroine of the ’60s) !

Speaking of strange sights – this morning I saw a guy wear his cooling glasses backwards – honest ! And he appeared to be quite a polished guy. So be warned this may find its way into a future cartoon !

Vandituchu – SSM was never sooooo pretty !!!! If he had been and – for want of a better word- so well-endowed, maths (esp trig) would have been a walk in the park for the boys

Aamaa- is that retta pinnal kaari me sleeping during class ??

  3. SG : “is that retta pinnal kaari me sleeping during class ??”

    Unequivocally YES !!

I even racked my brains to get the “All those who got below 35 stand up” in somehow but the clock struck twelve and the chariot turned into a pumpkin 🙂

“so well-endowed, maths (esp trig) would have been a walk in the park for the boys”

You’ve got that spot on. The male psyche is much simpler than the girls think.

SSM is ofcourse present in the classroom in spirit. After all who can refuse to stick around when there is eye candy (your term) on display? 🙂

See the textbook on the teacher’s desk ? HE wrote that ! (Jus’ kidding)

Many Thanks for checking out my blog

  4. Splendid work, Ravishanker. This has to rank among your best in terms of the facial detailing. The inquisitive student (wearing glasses), the sleepy one, the exasperated teacher, all of it was evoked in a superb manner without the aid of any exaggerated caricaturing.

Trigonometry lendhu “ban peta” ku vandhadhu samma touch! I thought to myself with the sine theta and cos theta that you were leading to a punchline that went something like, “Dey PETA, maata thotta enna theeta?!” 🙂

I never cease to marvel at your energy and enthusiasm considering you’ve been churning out very engaging articles in your online space and finding the time to pore over your fellow bloggers’ spaces and take the trouble to comment.

    Thank you so much !

  6. Venky ” I’m so so happy you caught that one !

This was the hot topic in yesterday’s interview with the Ulaga Nayagan on NDTV and draws heavily from his recent twitter posts.

The controversy has been raging like hell and overnight some new card turns up which is why I was forced to stay up insanely late last night to finish this one before it became irrelevant in a trice.

    Thanks again !

  9. Iswarya : So thrilled to hear from you ! And thank you so much for your kind words.

I dont have issues with your taking time to come back to the blog. I’d rather you view it at leisure – stop and tarry awhile. When we’re heavily preoccupied with work and other matters even a basically light-hearted thing can prove burdensome and thats the last thing I want this blog to be.

Again great hearing from you !
